This challenging route is designed only for the experienced quad bike riders. It involves two high passes that mountain bikes use, Tamattouchte Pass (2800m) in the Atlas mountain range and Tazazart Pass (2408m) in the Saghro mountain range. You will pass through the beautiful sister gorges of Todra and Dades, oasis towns of Tinghir and Tamnougalt. If you always dream about doing a long journey on a motor bike in beautiful but remote regions, but haven’t made it that far yet, this is the journey for you!

marrakech2Day 1: Arrive in Marrakech

Our guide will pick you up from the airport of Marrakech and take you to a hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to walk around our famous central square, Djema el-Fna, an UNESCO world heritage site. Feel and taste the magic of this city.


Ait BenhaddouDay 2: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou (120km 4×4)

We leave Marrakech after breakfast in a 4×4 to our small but beautiful Berber village of Ait Ben Haddou. A short guided tour to our famous kasbah, another UNESCO world heritage site, which had been the setting of many Hollywood movies since the 60s. Take time to rest and soak in our Berber culture in this quiet village. We will stay in our family guest house for the night.

kelaat_Mgouna2Day 3: Ait Ben Haddou – Kalaat M’Gouna (130 km Quad)

Today is our first quad day! After breakfast, we will get on our quad and drive towards Kalaat M’Gouna on desert tracks. This town is famous for its Rose Festival to celebrates their harvest every May. Here is where the country’s largest rose water and rose oil manufacturers located. The rest of the afternoon is for you to browse around shops and relax. We overnight in a family guest house.

tinghirDay 4: Kalaat M’Gouna – Tinghir (70 km Quad)

After breakfast, we drive to Tinghir Oasis, an 30km long oasis with beautiful palm groves along Todra River, with its source from the High Atlas. Feel free to walk among the fields and amazed at the ingenious irrigation system that supply water to fields of dates, almonds, pomegranate, peaches, olives, figs, plum trees, tomatoes, cabbages etc.  Stay in a guest house.

Todra GorgeDay 5: Tinghir – Todra Gorge – Tamattouchte Pass (2800m) – Msemrir – Dada Gorges (80 km Quad)

Today is a big day! We drive from Tinghir through the magnificent Todra Gorge, then continue uphill to the Tamattouchte Pass (2800m) on a jeep track. Admire the view while we go downhill to the village of Msemrir. After a late lunch, we continue to the Dades Gorge. Overnight in a guest house here.

Tizi-n-Tazazert1Day 6: Dades Gorges – Bou Thrar – Kalaat M’Gouna – Boumalne Dades (150 km Quad)

Our ride today follows the winding tarmac road through the spectacular Dades Gorge until we arrive at the fantastic village of Bou Thrar. We have lunch here with dramatic mountain scenery, rock formations and impressive kasbahs framed by palm groves. After lunch, we ascent to a pass at the head of the valley. Admire the exhilarating views of the snow-covered, peak of Mgoun – Morocco’s third highest mountain. Finally we descend to the extensive plains to El Kelaa M’Gouna and continue to Boumalne Dades. Overnight in a guest house.

BabAliDay 7: Boumalne Dades – Tizzi n’Tazazart (2408m) – Bab n Ali – Nkob (80 km Quad)

We depart Boumalne Dades to the village of Izemgane. From here we begin our ascent over a series of zigzags to a plateau, where we can admire mount Amalou n’Mansour (2712 m), highest in the Jebel Sahro range. Continues uphill until the stunning Tizzi n’Tazazart Pass (2270m). We then descent to the stupendous rock formations of Bab n’Ali, Jebel Saghro’s landmark. A final short climb brings us to the Draa Valley and N’kob for the night, with fabulous views of palm groves and oasis.

tamnougalt-palmerasDay 8: Nkob – Tamnougalt (60km Quad)

Back on tarmac road, we leave Nkob today after breakfast and start driving to Tamnougalt, a village in the Draa River valley 30km away, with a kasbah deep in history and decorated with Arab, Andalusian and Berber Jewish motifs. The rest of the afternoon is for you to explore. We overnight in a guest house in Tamnougalt.


2hourquadBDay 9: Tamnougalt – Ait Ben Haddou (100km Quad)

Today is our last day of quad biking. From Tamnougalt, we will go back to our village, Ait Ben Haddou, through Agdz, a small but important town located on the old caravan route linking Marrakech to the Sahara. Stay in our family guest house tonight. Enjoy the last night of traditional Moroccan dinner together.

Marrakech_soukDay 10: Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech (120km in 4×4)

Early morning after breakfast, we will start our journey back to Marrakech. Upon arrival around noon, you can have last-minute shopping before going to the airport for your flight. Airport transfer is included. (Dinner is not included tonight.)

It is possible to go from Nkob to Zagora, then M’hamid and to the Sahara dunes of Lihoudi and Chigaga before going back to Foum Zguid and Ait Benhaddou. You will go back to Marrakesh on Day 13.
