12-Day Sightseeing Tour - Exploration of North Morocco

This tour will show you most of the highlights of Morocco (except the Sahara Desert in the south). It covers the four imperial cities and the Atlas Mountains, the blue city and Essaouira. You will discover the architecture, culture and landscape of these amazing ancient places!

Day 1: Arrive in Casablanca


Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to your hotel where take a short rest. Then you will meet up with your guide for a general briefing. The rest of the day will be free. You can take a tour to the seaside (The Cornich) or have dinner at the famous Ricks café.

Day 2: Casablanca to Rabat 


Start our journey visiting the incredible Hassan 2nd Mosque, the third largest mosque in the world. 


After exploring Casablanca, we will drive north to Rabat along the beautiful shores. After checking into the hotel in Rabat, you will enjoy your free time in Rabat. Visit the Oudaya Kasbah or the Mausoleum of Mohamed 5th, and explore the Medina.

Day 3: Rabat to Chefchaouen


Departing Rabat this morning, we will drive north passing through the Kenitra plain before we stop in Ouezzan, the gate of the Rif mountains. 


After a short rest, we will continue to Chefchaouen, a colorful Moroccan town nestled in the heart of the Rif mountains. The city boasts incredible blue washed buildings and majestic views around. Wander in the alleys and take photos to your heart content in the afternoon. Explore the medina and have dinner at the many restaurants in town.

Day 4: Chefchaouen to Volubilis to Fès


We leave Chefchaouen this morning driving south to the famous Roman site Volubilis. Dating back 40AD, we take time to explore the triple arched tingis gate, the columns of the Capitoline temple, basilica, the courthouse and much more. 


We will then continue to Fès via Meknes. Check in to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day free. Consider a traditional Moroccan Hamam to revive your body and mind.


Day 5: Fès


Fès is the oldest and the biggest medieval city in the world. Its medina is a cacophony of aromas, sights and sounds. This morning, we enjoy the guided tour of Fès El Bali, the old walled city. This fascinating Medina has 9400 alleys! We also visit the old Tannery and a madrassa (ancient religious school) dating back to the 9th century. The evening is your free time. Taking a cooking class or hamam or a night of Moroccan entertainment food restaurant. 

 


Day 6: Fès to Bin Elouidane in the Atlas Mountains 


Leaving Fès, we enjoy the changing landscape and architecture along the way. We will spend short time in Ifrane, the Swiss resort.


After Ifrane, we will pass through some Berber villages in the mountains and arrive at Bin El-Ouidane, a beautiful turqoise lake side village.

 


Day 7: Bin El-Ouidane to Marrakech


Today we travel from Bin El-Ouidane to Marrakech. We will stop at the impressive Ouzoud Falls the tallest waterfalls in Morocco in the heart of the Atlas mountains. 


We continue to Marrakech and upon checking in to your hotel, we will give you an orientation walk in Jemaa el-Fnaa Square with your guide. You are then free to explore the colorful medina. Explore this famous square at night and enjoy the color and sound of the Berber culture. Ask your guide for a restaurant recommendation for the night.

 


Day 8: Marrakech


After breakfast, we head over to the beautiful Majorelle garden, a botanical garden designed by French designer Jacque Majorelle in 1920. The garden has been owned by Yves saint lauren since 1980. There is also a Berber museum representing the various indigenous tribes of Morocco. The Yves Saint Lauren museum opened in 2017 dedicated to the life and works of Yves saint Laurent himself.


After lunch, we will give you a guided tour of the medina, including visit to the historical sites, the souks and Kotoubiya Mosque. In the evening free time, have dinner at one of the many fancy restaurants!



Day 9: Marrakech to Ouirgane


We say goodbye to Marrakech and travel this morning to Ouirgane, in the heart of the high Atlas mountains. We will get to discover a different rhythm of life with a spectacular view of the Toubkal mountain, the tallest mountain in North Africa. We can hike for a few hours through some Berber villages or enjoy swimming pool with views of the mountains around.

 


Day 10: Ouirgane to Essaouira


After breakfast, we leave Ouirgane for Essaouira, a seaside town where a smaller medina is located next to the Atlantic ocean. If we are lucky, we may see some villagers’ goats climbing Argan trees along the road! Upon arrival and an orientation walk, you will be free to walk around, have a coffee at an outdoor cafes and some local cuisine for dinner. 

 


Day 11: Essaouira to Casablanca


Visit the fish market in the morning in Essaouira and watch the sea gulf fighting at the pier alongside the fishermen! In the afternoon, we travel north taking highway among the Atlantic coast back to Casablanca.

 


Day 12: Depart Casablanca


Our amazing journey ends here. After checkout, we will transfer you to the airport about 3 hours before your flight time. We hope you remember this special journey for the rest of your life!
