This is a special tour for those who want to have a rare insight into the life of Berbers in the traditional villages throughout south of Morocco.

The Berbers in Morocco and the rest of North Africa are considered to be the natives. Ancient rock carvings proved that Berbers exist throughout the Maghreb and into the central Sahara. When Romans invaded North Africa, they displace the Berber rebels to the Atlas Mountains and the Moroccan Rif. The Arabs invaded after the Romans & introduced Islam.

Despite numerous attempts to unify the populations of North Africa, the Berbers or “free men” as they call themselves have continued to defend a strong identity and independent culture over the centuries. One prominent subgroup is the The Amazigh people, to whom 60% of Moroccans identify, are the indigenous people of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. More historic details of the Amazigh here.

You will have a chance to have tea with a Berber family and learn about traditional life in the remote mountains.
